Jun 02, 2007 Taking plaquenil actually helped to decrease mine though and make things more bearable. Now that I'm on prednisone I know I sweat a lot more - it drives me crazy. I walk around with the back of my hair by neck wet almost all the time from sweat. Will you be tapering your prednisone? Hopefully if you can get to a lower dose you will sweat a little less. Plaquenil Hydroxychloroquine belongs to a group of medications known as anti-inflammatories and antimalarials. It is used alone or in combination with other anti-arthritic medications to treat rheumatoid arthritis. It helps to reduce pain, stiffness, and swelling in joints. Hydroxychloroquine is usually taken with food or milk to prevent stomach upset. The dosage and length of treatment are based on your medical condition and response to therapy. In children, dosage is also based on weight.

For example, it may be combined with an antibiotic to treat chronic Q-fever, which humans usually catch from farm animals or raw milk. Plaquenil is used to treat other types of infections too.
