No big deal. Its not like Alzheimers, Parkinsons, or Huntingtons where each day will be worse than the one before. With Lupus, you just have to manage the symptoms and live fully between flairs. At my last rheumatologist appointment, she prescribed Plaquenil. When I read the side effects they included anxiety, anxiousness, and suicidal thoughts. Plaquenil and other antimalarials are the key to controlling lupus long-term, and some lupus patients may be on Plaquenil for the rest of their lives. For this reason, you can think of antimalarials as a sort of “lupus life insurance.” Yes i have had bad depression and anxiety attacks plaquenil. Clonazepam given but having severe fatigue and since on max dose if plaquenil for over a year, almost lost complete sight in left eye. October 30, 2019 at pm I’ve been on plaquinil since 2009 and I can’t say I’ve had increased anxiety or depression from taking it.

😢😞Taking plaquenil gave me moderate relief from the joint pain. RA sucks and so does all the medication that they come up with ,,were guinea pigs!!

Plaquenil and Depression/Anxiety. I was diagnosed with Sjogren’s a year ago Early Sjogren’s Panel by the doctor I see for Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. I started at a very low dose- 100mg per day 1/2 of a 200 mg tablet, in addition to a small dose of modafinil I was taking for fatigue, which is my worst symptom. Clinical depression may be a result of neurologic problems or experiences unrelated to lupus. Clinical depression also produces anxiety, which may aggravate physical symptoms headache, stomach pain, etc. Two common feelings associated with clinical depression are hopelessness and helplessness. Severe depression and anxiety, overall itching, pain and stiffness increased instead of decreased. First, my mother and sister took plaquenil for lupus with good effect, so I am not just disliking it for no good reason. I also suffer from disabling bipolar disorder. For 25 years, I have gotten hypomanic during spring.
