Hi there, I normally post on the arthritis board, and due to toxicity of the Plaquenil after 2 years, I have had to discontinue it, since I failed the visual field testing. I'm sure you do feel like you're losing your mind.(((hugs)))Pat Hi there, I had put a posting about this a few weeks ago on here.

How do you spell plaquenil Hydroxychloroquine pubchem Chloroquine antibiotic

Dr. Kim responded Nothing safer. Plaquenil is also known as hydroxychloroquine, so the parent drug Chloroquine can be substituted. But Chloroquine has significantly higher rate of retinal toxicity, so it isn't used much anymore. Complementary medicine can be of assistance for both managing the symptoms of lupus and bolstering the immune system. The word “alternative” might sound strange to some, but you may be surprised to learn that many of these alternative treatment options and/or therapies are more familiar than you think. Dec 29, 2004 I'm still searching for that magic "all natural" replacement since I cannot tolerate plaquenil. The stomach, liver & eye complications are too great to bear. and that's at the lowest, lowest dose. Anyway, guess I need to get into some deeper research about exactly what this drug does, and.

I'm just wondering if any of you here have had to stop taking Plaquenil and if so what you replaced it with? Not knowing what your dx is, I don't know what to tell you. I haven't found a replacement except that I started my cytoxan every month now. Although I take Enbrel, and MTX, neither one work as well as the Plaquenil and the fatigue and joint pain have returned full force. I had to get off of plaquenil as well b/c of toxicity and benign tumors behind my eyes.
