    Plaquenil and radiotherapy

Plaquenil is used to treat or prevent malaria, a disease caused by parasites that enter the body through the bite of a mosquito. Malaria is common in areas such as Africa, South America, and Southern Asia.

Collagen vascular diseases. It is a commonly held notion that collagen vascular diseases--such as lupus, scleroderma, Sjogren's, etc.--are an absolute contraindication to radiotherapy since the effects on normal tissue would be greater, and even severe. Collagen vascular diseases include rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, Raynaud's. Background Hydroxychloroquine sulfate and other antimalarial drugs have been used successfully as adjunctive therapy for patients with cutaneous lesions of dermatomyositis over the past 20 years. An increased incidence of cutaneous reactions to hydroxychloroquine has been postulated to occur. Chloroquine is an anti-malarial drug available at pharmacies for people traveling to area with malaria risks. Note based on a RGCC chemosensitivity analysis I have seen at a German clinic, Hydroxychloroquine has been effective in killing the cancer cells of 5 out 7 patients that were tested.

Plaquenil is also an antirheumatic medicine and is used to treat symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and discoid or systemic lupus erythematosus. This medicine is not effective against all strains of malaria.

RATIONALE Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as hydroxychloroquine and temozolomide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Cancer patients may undergo tumor resection, chemotherapy, radiation treatment, or, more recently, immunotherapy—all of which can make their management more challenging if they have concomitant rheumatoid arthritis. Coordination of care with a rheumatologist will be essential.

Can metoprolol, xarelto and propafenone be taken together? Metoprolol slows down your heart rate. However, propafenone can increase the blood level of metoprolol. So metoprolol action may be more pronounced. Hence, you may need to lower your your metoprolol dose.

My doctor recently prescribed Metoprolol 25 mg AND Amlodipine 5mg. for.
